Organisational and system design

Teneo supports clients to redesign target operating models and organisational designs through a ‘form follows function’ approach to improve performance and realise efficiencies. We deliver end-to-end organisational transformation support, including reshaping executive and top-level structures, clinical divisions and corporate services, and establishing the governance structures, accountability frameworks, and processes needed to support sustainable change.

We have deep experience of working in partnership with clients to co-design collaborative delivery models and merged organisations, from designing NHS Trust Group models, provider collaboratives and place-based partnerships through to supporting Trust and ICB mergers.

Example Case Study

Teneo supported a large NHS trust to deliver a multi-phase transformation programme and operating model redesign following significant organisational growth. We worked with leadership to realign mission, baseline structures, and identify efficiencies through functional review. Our support included organisational design, governance development, and large-scale consultation and change management across 2,000+ staff.

System transformation

Teneo supports healthcare systems and providers to design and deliver end-to-end transformation of clinical services, from pathway redesign through to large-scale system reconfiguration. We work alongside clinical and operational leaders to diagnose performance challenges, identify unwarranted variation, and quantify opportunities for improvement. Example Case Study

Teneo supported two large hospitals to develop their first joint Group Clinical Strategy following the formation of a large provider group. We worked with leaders to define a single vision centred on population health and prevention, identifying clinical focus areas and ambitions, as well as defining priorities and core enablers. The strategy was endorsed by both Boards and now guides service development, transformation and system priorities.

Teneo worked with one of the UK’s largest elderly care home operators to develop a meaningful portfolio segmentation using a data-based tool that recognises the competitive potential of individual and cohorts of homes and helped prioritize investments and plan activity to maximise return across the portfolio.

Due diligence and transaction support

Example Case Study

Teneo supported one of Europe’s largest veterinary care provider groups to free up clinical capacity to optimise the workforce in its portfolio of vet clinics. This included identifying, assessing and prioritising opportunities for more efficient ways of working to support the company in meeting growing demand despite the industry-wide shortage of vets and veterinary nurses, while maintaining a high-quality service.

Teneo worked with one of the UK’s largest private hospital operators, providing strategic project management (PMO) support for the implementation of a new Digital Pathology system. This included standing-up a robust project governance structure and providing hands-on support to implement new processes and workflows, and develop systems architecture design.
