Simon Buckby

Senior Managing Director

Simon is a Senior Managing Director, based in Teneo’s Hong Kong office, where he offers strategic advice to executives across the Asia-Pacific region and globally.

He has extensive experience in C-suite counsel, including crisis management and executive positioning, drawn from his deep involvement in media and politics. He advised Pret a Manger when the UK Advertising Standards Authority threatened its entire brand by ruling it could no longer market itself as serving “natural” food. He’s also an advisor to LSH, the leading retailer of premium cars, on its corporate reputation in China and throughout Asia.

Between 2005 and 2017 Simon founded, managed and then sold a respected London-based communications consultancy. He relocated to Hong Kong in 2018 where he was Managing Partner for an international business communications consultancy. A former journalist with the Financial Times and reporter for BBC Television, Simon previously ran a UK campaign about the European Union headed by FTSE100 business leaders and then Prime Minister, Tony Blair.

Simon is a member of the Advisory Board of the School of Politics and International Studies at the University of Leeds, and for three years he was a trustee of the highly respected London think-tank, New Philanthropy Capital.
