Matthew Alarif is a Senior Vice President with Teneo’s Risk Advisory business.
Matthew is responsible for helping clients identify security vulnerabilities in their businesses, conducting risk assessments of key threats and risks to companies’ readiness, developing and implementing defense measures and robust response tactics, and helping clients build a roadmap for a holistic enterprise security system.
Prior to joining Teneo, Matthew built the Security Preparedness program at Bank of America and served as the Security Preparedness Director within Bank of America’s Corporate Security department, where he oversaw critical security operations including physical red team assessments, an exercise program, after action reviews, and threat & vulnerability assessments. He also oversaw special security programs, including kidnap & ransom response, active assailant training and hostage response guidance to employees. Notably, he designed the threat and vulnerability assessment process for airports that Bank of America’s management team transited globally, coordinating with CISA, the TSA and airport operators to influence security enhancements at CLT, BOS and other airports around the world. His role ensured global security readiness and compliance across Bank of America’s entire facility portfolio and lines of business, engaging with government and law enforcement agencies worldwide to evaluate and communicate threats to leadership in retail, administrative, contact centers and data centers.
Matthew’s military background includes serving as an interrogator and strategic debriefer, intelligence case officer and a force protection specialist in surveillance and counter-surveillance operations. Matthew supported joint operations while in the Army, working alongside the Central Intelligence Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Command and Marine Forces Special Operations Command to satisfy national intelligence requirements. He also served as an advisor to the Defense Department on human intelligence training requirements for advanced tradecraft with the HUMINT Training – Joint Center of Excellence at Fort Huachuca, AZ. Matthew holds an MS in Security Management from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a BA in Psychology from Columbia College, an AAS in Intelligence Operations and he is active with ASIS International.
