John Hurst

Senior Managing Director

John advises senior management and boards on corporate transactions and strategy, reputational issues, media and investor relations, litigation and executive and board room restructuring. John has worked closely with many of Australia’s largest ASX listed companies, international corporations involved in cross border deals, as well as private entities and individuals.

As a Senior Managing Director at Teneo, John creates and implements thoughtful strategies that are results-driven and effective. Clients benefit from his depth of expertise and strong national and global experience.

Prior to joining Teneo, John was a co-founder and majority owner of Quay Advisers, which was acquired by Teneo in March 2019.

Prior to Quay Advisers, John was the Managing Director at Cannings Corporate Communications for almost eight years. He has also held internal corporate affairs and investor relations roles with ASX listed companies.

During the past decade, John has specialised in the finance and insurance, property, retail, agricultural, leisure and oil, gas and energy sectors.

Before moving into consulting, John worked at The Australia Financial Review (AFR) for more than 20 years, specialising in business, finance and political reporting and commentary. His roles at the AFR included five years as Managing Editor, European correspondent based in London and Investment Editor.
