Dr. Christine Loh

Senior Advisor

Dr. Christine Loh is a senior advisor with Teneo. She leverages her extensive experience in the private sector, as a successful politician in Hong Kong SAR and as an academic in Hong Kong SAR and the US, to help C-suite executives make business-critical decisions. Dr. Loh specializes in helping clients better understand, navigate and respond to the changing policy and business landscape as it relates to China’s climate, environment and sustainability agendas.

In addition to her work with Teneo, Dr. Loh is Chief Development Strategist at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and teaches at the Anderson School of Management at the University of California at Los Angeles. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the Robert HN Ho Family Foundation, CDP Worldwide, the Global Maritime Forum and New Forests Pty Ltd. She is also a member of the BASF Stakeholder Advisory Counsel and an advisor to HSBC’s Climate Advisory Panel.

Prior to joining Teneo, Dr. Loh served as Hong Kong SAR’s Undersecretary for the Environment from 2012 to 2017 and was a Hong Kong SAR Legislative Council member from 1992 to 1997 and 1998 to 2000. She founded Civic Exchange, a non-profit policy think tank, in 2001 and served as its CEO through 2012.

Dr. Loh spent her early career as a commodities trader. She held regional leadership positions at Philipp Brothers and Phibro Energy before joining CIM Co. She was also an elected member of the Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Limited.

Dr. Loh has published many books focused on topics such as public policy, US-China relations, climate change and the environment, history and Hong Kong SAR’s constitutional development. She is a regular columnist for the South China Morning Post and China Daily.

Dr. Loh holds an English law degree from the University of Hull, England, and a Masters of Law degree in Chinese and Comparative Law from the City University of Hong Kong. She has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Law, honoris causa, by the University of Hull and Doctor of Science, honoris causa by the University of Exeter.
