Teneo Appoints Nick Greenslade as a Managing Director

Teneo, the global CEO advisory firm, today announced the appointment of Nick Greenslade as a Managing Director with the firm’s Strategy & Communications business in London. The appointment further builds on the strong momentum of Teneo’s strategic sports advisory offering which advises a range of sports-related entities in both the UK and around the world.

Nick joins from News UK, where he has been deputy sports editor of The Times and The Sunday Times, with sole responsibility for editing the market leading Sunday Times sports section, for over a decade. In this role, he led the paper’s global coverage of social and political issues surrounding sports as diverse as football, cricket, cycling and rugby. Since 2019, Nick has been the Editorial Director of The Sunday Times’ Sportswoman of the Year Awards. He is also the author of a successful sports book, The Thin White Line, the story of Pakistan cricket’s spot-fixing scandal in 2010.

As many sports-related entities navigate an increasingly complex stakeholder environment spanning a range of social, political and geopolitical issues, Teneo is uniquely positioned to help by leveraging its global integrated service offering. For over a decade, the firm has advised sports clients on these issues in key markets around the world including the Middle East, Europe and North America.

In the past year alone, Teneo has worked for leading international governing bodies, national governing bodies, clubs and private equity investors on high profile and existential issues in sports as diverse as football, tennis, cricket, rugby and horse racing.

With hubs in New York and London, and throughout North America and the Middle East, Teneo is strategically located to capitalise on the global investment boom in sport.

Neil Daugherty, Senior Managing Director and sports sector lead for Teneo in the UK, said,

“We welcome Nick to our growing team focused on advising the leadership of sports leagues, governing bodies, clubs and investors on existential issues relating to sports, media and entertainment. The growth of interest in sport as the best live, unscripted entertainment is relentless and counter-cyclical. Nick was a fearless journalist and editor and I have no doubt he will make a brilliant consultant.”

Nick Greenslade, Managing Director at Teneo, said:

“I am delighted to be joining Teneo's Strategy and Communications team. In particular, I look forward to bringing my experience in sport and the media to enhance its sports advisory offering and to work with and grow its impressive portfolio of clients. If I have learned anything from my involvement in journalism and the sports industry it is that, in a fast-changing world, no key stakeholder - whether it be governing body, club or sponsor - is likely to secure success on or off the pitch without a joined-up communications strategy. This is an exciting time for Teneo and I am very happy to have the opportunity to play a part in the future of the business.”

Nick Claydon, CEO, Teneo UK, said:

"As institutional capital flows into sport, investors are demanding a higher quality of advice which understands the nexus of fan sentiment, government policy and a changing regulatory environment, including a heightened focus on diversity, equality and inclusion across all sports. Nick’s addition to our growing sports advisory team – from editing a market leading sports section at The Sunday Times – strengthens our ability to respond to this growing demand.”
