Managing Director

Harriet Gaywood is a Managing Director with Teneo, based in Shanghai, China.

Harriet has more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications, working with clients in B2B, consumer, corporate and govt sectors in China and the APAC region. She has extensive experience in corporate and C-suite positioning, issues management, and strategy.

Harriet joins Teneo from the largest domestic communication firm in China, where she oversaw strategy for a mix of China inbound and outbound clients. Previously, Harriet was at an international communication consultancy where she established offices in Shanghai and Beijing. Harriet began her career in Press and Public Affairs at the British Consulate-General, Shanghai and since that time has worked with several overseas governments in China including visits by foreign leaders and ministers as well as senior executives of major Chinese and International companies. She holds an Executive MBA from Hult International Business School, a school committed to preparing business for the future.

A British native, Harriet is bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese. Mother of two children, an ultra-runner and ‘cellist, she leads early morning community workouts across Shanghai most days of the week.
