Gian Virdi is an Associate Director with Teneo in London, specialising in valuations.
Gian’s experience covers various valuation assignments including valuations in the context of restructuring, transactional valuations of businesses for M&A and fundraising purposes, providing valuations of start-up companies, providing fairness opinions, expert witness assignments, valuations in the context of disputes, intangible asset valuations and valuations of performing and non-performing loan portfolios.
Prior to joining Teneo, Gian worked at KPMG Dublin in their Corporate Finance practice.

Restructuring
- Digicel Group – c. $4bn valuation in the context of liquidation / debt restructuring.
- Johnston Press Plc – Valuation of the group and various titles belonging to the group, including the “i” newspaper in the context of liquidation / debt restructuring.
Equity valuations
- Fairness opinion relating to the valuation of a leading European frozen food retailer for M&A purposes.
- Formal valuation opinion and valuation allocation exercise of a c. $4bn food and specialty can manufacturer in Europe and the Americas.
- Formal valuation opinion and valuation allocation exercise of a c. $8.5bn aluminium beverage can manufacturer which listed through a SPAC.
- Rule 3 advisor to Nature Group Plc as part of its acquisition by Port Invest.
Contentious valuations and expert witness
- Criminal investigation into one of the world’s largest banks in order to determine whether its shareholders were misled through representations made by the bank in its prospectus as at the time of the multi-billion transaction.
- Engaged by an overseas government body / regulator in relation to an assignment concerning a large multinational mining company (revenue in billions) who due to their delay in recognising an impairment potentially misled the market and saved on bond issuance costs.
Loan portfolio valuations
- Leading Irish bank – Valuation in the context of a potential disposal of a portfolio of performing residential buy-to-let mortgage loans comprising c. €1.6bn of par debt.
- Leading Irish bank – Valuation in the context of a potential disposal of a portfolio of non-performing residential mortgage loans comprising c. €600m of par debt.
- Leading Irish bank – Valuation in the context of a potential acquisition of a portfolio agriculture backed loans comprising c. €150m of par debt.
