Frances Fitzgerald

Frances Fitzgerald, former Tánaiste of Ireland and Member of the European Parliament, is a Senior Advisor at Teneo. Widely regarded as one of Ireland and Europe’s most accomplished political figures, Frances brings a wealth of experience spanning Irish government, European institutions and international affairs.

Throughout her distinguished career, Frances served as Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) from 2016 to 2017 and held several senior Cabinet positions, including Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation (2017), Minister for Justice and Equality (2014–2016), and Minister for Children and Youth Affairs (2011–2014). A long-serving Teachta Dála (TD) and a Senator from 2007 to 2011, she also led the Fine Gael group in the Seanad.

As a Member of the European Parliament from 2019 to 2024, Frances was a leading voice on gender equality and global democratic resilience. She was an active member of the Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM), and Development (DEVE) Committees, and served on the Special Committee on Foreign Interference in Democratic Processes (INGE). She held key roles on the European Parliament’s Delegations for relations with China and the United States, and in 2021 was elected Vice-President of the EPP Group, the largest political grouping in the Parliament.

A former Chair of the National Women’s Council of Ireland, Frances is a long-standing advocate for gender equality and a prominent champion of female leadership across public life.
