Christian Butter

Senior Managing Director and Head of Forensics and Investigations UK and EMEA

Christian Butter is a Senior Managing Director and Head of Forensics and Investigations UK and EMEA with Teneo’s Financial Advisory business, based in London. Christian has a multidisciplinary background at the intersection of technology, financial forensics and global advisory, developed through roles at Palantir Technologies, PwC and Clifford Chance.

As Deployment Strategist at Palantir, he helped organisations leverage AI software to address mission-critical challenges. Previously, at PwC, Christian was a partner in the Forensics, Cyber & Integrity business. As a member of the UK leadership for Forensics, and as the EMEA Forensics leader, he helped shape the business, its services and people strategies. Christian also led technology alliances in the UK advisory business, collaborating with a number of software firms, building solutions and services and deploying AI platform software, alongside strategic and industry expertise for clients.

In forensics, Christian’s experience covers a range of industries and sectors, leading engagements across large scale investigations, enhanced investment due diligence, major capital project scrutiny, anti-financial crime, fraud, insolvency and restructuring and cyber. He has worked closely with clients to respond to business-critical events, regulatory inquiries and integrity challenges—often involving regulators, cross-border considerations or public market exposure. He also directed special situations assignments, including critical operational response and crisis-driven investigations, bringing together multidisciplinary teams and advanced technology tools.

Christian has led complex investigations, critical operational situations and crisis responses across sectors. He brings deep expertise in using advanced technology and multidisciplinary teams to solve critical challenges. Christian has also led and participated in research and thought leadership on topics such as financial and regulatory failure response, AI, investigations, and broader issues tied to corporate special situations and risk. He was part of the group that won Global Investigations Review’s Investigation Consultancy of the Year in 2019 and 2022.

Christian holds dual UK and Netherlands citizenship, is a Chartered Accountant and has a bachelor’s degree in law & accountancy and a post graduate diploma in strategic thinking.
