Arnaud Danjean

Senior Advisor

Arnaud Danjean is a former Member of the European Parliament and a recognised authority on international security, intelligence and foreign policy. As a Senior Advisor at Teneo, he brings invaluable strategic insight at a time of heightened global uncertainty and geopolitical transformation.

Arnaud began his career in the French Ministry of Defence, holding a series of posts in southeastern Europe, most notably in the Balkans between 1994 and 2000. After serving as an adviser to the Head of French External Intelligence (2000-2002), he was posted to France’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva (2002–2005). He then joined the team of the French Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2005 to 2007.

Elected to the European Parliament in 2009 and re-elected through 2024, Arnaud was instrumental in shaping EU security and defence policy. He chaired the Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE), was a standing member of the Foreign Affairs Committee for 15 years and served as Vice Chair of the EPP Group during his final term. His tenure was marked by thought leadership on European defence, transatlantic cooperation, counterterrorism and crisis management.

Beyond his parliamentary career, Arnaud has been an active contributor to leading policy think tanks and advisory boards. Most recently, he served as a special adviser to former French Prime Minister Michel Barnier. His career reflects a rare combination of frontline intelligence experience, high-level diplomacy and strategic policy expertise.
