Scott Millar

Senior Managing Director

Scott Millar is a Senior Managing Director with Teneo’s Financial Advisory business and leader of the Interim Management practice, based in London. Scott has over 25 years of turnaround and refinancing experience, as well as operating model transformation and financial advisory skills that enable him to capture value for stakeholders in complex situations and challenging economic environments.

Scott has undertaken both advisory and executive roles, including Director of Refinancing (DoR), Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) and Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO). Having started his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, prior to joining Ankura, Scott was co-head of the UK Turnaround and Restructuring practice of AlixPartners.

Scott is a respected leader with a talent for bringing people together to stabilise, transform and add value to businesses. He has served in senior roles in private and public B2C and B2B companies in Europe, the U.S., and the UK. Scott has developed and executed comprehensive transformation programmes, including strategic plans, operating model transformations, balance sheet refinancings, stakeholder management and negotiations.

 

Selected Project Experience:

  • Engaged by the Board as Director of Refinancing for a £4bn turnover UK Listed International online fashion retailer. Successfully led and secured a refinancing and recapitalisation, establishing a stable and flexible capital structure for the business to implement the three-year strategic plan.
  • Engaged by the shareholders as Chief Transformation Advisor of a UK-based third party logistics business, developing and implementing a lean management efficiency programme; resulting in x2 EBITDA enhancement and subsequent sale (M&A).
  • Chief Restructuring Officer for an International UK Listed support services and construction business, with a £3.7 billion turnover. Engaged by the Board to lead the financial restructuring of £1.0 billion of indebtedness, securing £200m of new facilities and £100m of committed bonding lines.
  • Engaged as Chief Transformation Advisor of a Listed International law firm, working with management to develop a revised strategy and associated operating model, bridging from a loss-making to a cash flow positive business and sale (M&A) of the Group.
  • Advised the Board and CRO of a £1.5 billion UK Listed International digital and print media business, working alongside management in the negotiation and restructuring of £2.2 billion indebtedness three separate schemes of arrangement to affect a sale (M&A) to the Lenders. This role also included advising on the group’s transition from a print to digital business.
  • Project Director reporting to the CRO for the third largest retail and investment bank in an Eastern European country and advising the Central Bank. Responsible for the operational management of the Bank and the successful sale (M&A) of the operating businesses, including performing and non-performing loan books.
