Clark Dees

Co-Head of M&A, Financial Advisory

Mr. Dees joined Teneo Capital Advisory upon its founding in 2011 and serves as Head of Healthcare and Head of M&A. Mr. Dees has led a number of strategic and financing assignments for clients across various industries, including acquisition strategy, growth capital financing, and IPO advisory mandates. Notable transactions include CenPOS’ sale to Elavon (US Bancorp), Pii’s growth capital raise, PCI’s acquisitions of Penn Pharma and Biotec, KKR’s investment in LCIH, Tenet Healthcare’s merger with Vanguard, and several Aptuit divestitures for Welsh Carson.

Prior to joining Teneo, Mr. Dees was Founder and Managing Director of Gray Ghost Advisors, investing in emerging clean technology companies and advising them on strategic planning, capital formation, and transaction execution. Before that, Mr. Dees was a senior banker at Banc of America Securities, helping to found the Transaction Development Group and executing M&A transactions across a range of industries including healthcare, power, and business services. Notable transactions include Blackstone’s acquisition of Allied Barton and the IPO and acquisition of Iridium by GHL Acquisition Corp.

Mr. Dees began his investment banking career at Morgan Stanley as an M&A generalist, executing transactions in healthcare, power, natural resources, transportation and business services. Notable transactions include the merger of Mead Westvaco, Royal Philips’ divestiture of Marconi Healthcare Products, and Molson’s sale of the Montreal Canadiens. Mr. Dees was then appointed to a role in firm management, helping to manage the M&A department, the conflict process, and the fairness opinion committee. Subsequently, he served as a healthcare M&A banker at Morgan Stanley, with notable roles including special committee advisor on the Quintiles LBO, buyside advisor on the Warner Chilcott LBO, buyside advisor on Genzyme’s acquisition of ILEX Oncology, and agent on some novel financings for Sepracorand Alkermes.

Before his investment banking career, Mr. Dees served on the staff of the Council of Economic Advisers at the White House.  He graduated cum laude from Princeton University with an AB in Economics and received an MBA and a JD from the University of Virginia.
