Bassem El Shawy is a Senior Vice President with Teneo based in Riyadh.

Bassem is a versatile IR veteran with more than two  decades of experience in Investor Relations and financial communications. His multi-sector experience spans across 5 different sectors and 3 countries.

Bassem has established and successfully managed IR departments for Telecommunications, Real Estate, Financial Services, Automotive, and Paper, Pulp & Packaging sectors. He helped some of the most prominent companies in Egypt establish their IR functions.

Bassem began his IR career in 2001 with Mobinil (now, Orange Egypt) then moved to NAEEM Holding, GB Auto, then Palm Hills Developments before he moved to Iraq to help Asiacell establish IR activities. He then moved back to Egypt to join Emaar Misr, the real estate giant. His final stage with corporate IR was with MEPCO, the leading packaging paper manufacturer in the middle east where he spent 4.5 years in Saudi Arabia.

Prior to his IR career, Bassem worked with securities brokerage firms before moving to asset management, which gave him a clear advantage in his IR career. During his long journey, Bassem faced complex crisis management situations at which he exceled in advising the corporate C-suite on the best courses of action from IR and financial communications perspectives.

Bassem is a holder of MBA from Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands and a Certified IR by the IRS-UK.
