Description

A Vice President within Teneo Strategic Communications is a core member of our account teams. Vice Presidents are responsible for helping execute holistic, integrated programs and communications initiatives in support of Teneo’s clients. This may include, but not be limited to corporate communications and investor relations programs, executive positioning campaigns, media relations strategies, as well as issues and crisis management. Vice Presidents are highly motivated, entrepreneurial individuals, able to think outside-the-box, as well as navigate complex situations and ambiguous assignments with ease. They are the glue that ensures our team’s deliver best-in-class service and function as a cohesive unit.

The role is based in Calgary with a requirement of at least three days a week in the office.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work on Calgary-based client accounts and support client work in the Toronto, Montréal, and global offices
  • Responsible for preparing client ready written content, strategic plans, press releases, talking points, Q&As, briefing memos, and distributed media materials; managing messages; and coordinating client program activities
  • Serves as a reliable, adaptable resource for senior team members capable of overseeing others
  • Contributes to the Business Development process, including proposal development and pitch participation
  • Contributes to operational requirements in the office, including supporting Teneo marketing events and business development activities

 

Qualifications

  • 5 – 10 years in public relations/corporate communications/media/investor relations or relevant experience
  • Strong track record of managing client relationships
  • Experience managing large teams, with a particular focus on mentoring junior staff
  • Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to see complex projects through to execution
  • Knowledge of the media landscape and demonstrated track record of engaging with journalists and/or fostering journalist relationships
  • Experience with issues and crisis management, or complex and/or sensitive mandates
  • Demonstrated understanding of business and capital markets
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; experience delivering presentations in PowerPoint is required
  • Ability to navigate complex or ambiguous environments
  • Strong familiarity with social media platforms, as well as media and monitoring tools such as Meltwater
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
