Oscar Wang has over 15 years of strategic communications experience working with multinationals and large Chinese enterprises. He leads Teneo’s Shanghai office and is responsible for on-the-ground operations across mainland China.

Oscar is a sophisticated communication advisor with experience across the banking, asset management, private equity, real estate, fintech, professional services and environmental industries. Having worked in Hong Kong SAR and mainland China for many years, he is a trusted advisor to international financial institutions, multinationals and large Chinese corporations looking to formulate cross-market strategies for communication, brand positioning, issues management, investor relations, transaction communication and social & digital media. He is also a seasoned spokespeople and crisis trainer for the greater China-based senior executives of global corporations.

With deep understanding of China’s media, business and political landscapes, Oscar designs and constructs thought leadership campaigns that are tailored to China’s cultural context and the Chinese language.

Prior to joining Teneo as part of its May 2017 acquisition of Ryan Communication, Oscar worked for Citigate Dewe Rogerson, where he focused on transaction and IPO communication advisory for Hong Kong SAR- and China-listed companies. Earlier in his career, he held roles in banking, investment consulting and the media.

Oscar holds a Master’s Degree in Global Communication from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Economics from Ocean University of China.

Born in mainland China, Oscar is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese.
