Lucas van Praag

Senior Managing Director

Lucas van Praag is a Senior Managing Director in Teneo’s Strategy and Communications business based in New York. He advises CEOs, boards of directors, investors and leading global companies on corporate reputation, crisis management, leadership transitions, mergers and acquisitions, special situations and other high-stakes strategic communications challenges.

Lucas brings more than three decades of experience advising organizations through periods of transformation, complexity, and intense stakeholder scrutiny. He is particularly known for helping leaders navigate critical moments that shape corporate reputation and long-term enterprise value.

Prior to joining Teneo, Lucas co-founded Fitzroy Communications, a strategic communications and reputation advisory firm that was acquired by Teneo in 2017. Previously, Lucas spent 12 years at Goldman Sachs, where he served as Global Head of Corporate Communications and was elected Partner of the firm. In that role, he advised senior leadership on reputation, strategic communications, and stakeholder engagement, and served on both the European Management Committee and the Firmwide Business Standards Committee.

Earlier in his career, Lucas was a Partner at Brunswick Group, advising multinational clients on corporate communications and complex strategic issues. He began his financial services career at Bankers Trust Company and, before entering banking, served as an officer in the Merchant Navy.

Lucas serves on the Boards of Trustees of Eaglebrook School and The Oxford Academy. He previously served as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School and as a member of the Board of Directors of FACES at NYU Langone Medical Center.
