Chew Sutat is a Senior Advisor with Teneo based in Singapore. Sutat brings a wealth of financial services sector experience and will serve as a trusted advisor to Teneo’s clients on issues relating to business strategy, policy analysis and risk and reputation management with a focus on Southeast Asia.
Mr. Chew Sutat retired from Singapore Exchange (SGX) in July. He was senior managing director and a member of SGX’s executive management team for 14 years. On his watch the exchange transformed from an Asian Gateway to a global multi asset exchange. As Head of Global Sales and Origination, he led SGX’s equity and debt capital market teams in developing private-to-public capital raising solutions for companies. He was responsible for SGX’s international offices and oversaw specialist sales teams in 10 cities, serving all client segments with the full spectrum of SGX products and services. He also chaired SGX’s Bull Charge CSR initiatives for the last decade.
Prior to SGX, Mr. Chew had senior roles at Standard Chartered Bank, OCBC Securities and DBS Bank, where he held varying portfolios in strategic planning and business development for institutional banking and private clients. He founded Shan De Advisors (a family business) with his wife in September 21, and serves as a non-exec board member of ADDX, a Fintech startup backed by Temasek and SGX, and NTUitive, the Innovation and Enterprise Company of Nanyang Technological University. He is a Fellow of Singapore Institute of Directors and the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF), and was just awarded Global Investor Asia Capital Markets Lifetime Achievement Award.
Sutat dedicates his personal time to a variety of social causes. He is Chairman for the Community Chest and a board member of National Council of Social Service (NCSS). Sutat also chairs Caregivers Alliance Limited, which received the MCCY 2019 top Corporate Governance and Transparency award for mid-size charities. He is also Immediate Past Chairman of the Kaki Bukit Citizens’ Consultative Committee.
Mr Chew graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) degree in Philosophy Politics & Economics (PPE) from Oxford University and also holds a Master of Arts degree from Oxford.
