Chew Sutat Joins Teneo as a Senior Advisor

Teneo, the global CEO advisory firm, today announced the appointment of Chew Sutat as a Senior Advisor.

Sutat brings a wealth of financial services sector experience and will serve as a trusted advisor to Teneo’s clients on issues relating to business strategy, policy analysis and risk and reputation management with a focus on Southeast Asia.

Based in Singapore, Sutat joins Teneo having retired from the Singapore Exchange (SGX), where he was a Senior Managing Director and executive management team member. During his tenure, Sutat played a key role in transforming the exchange from an Asian gateway to a global multi-asset exchange. As Head of Global Sales and Origination, he led SGX’s equity and debt capital market teams in the development of private-to-public capital raising solutions. He was also responsible for SGX’s international offices and oversaw specialist sales teams across 10 cities, delivering the full spectrum of SGX products and services to all client segments. Sutat also chaired SGX’s Bull Charge corporate social responsibility (CSR) program for the last decade.

A seasoned executive, Sutat has also held senior roles at Standard Chartered Bank, OCBC Securities and DBS Bank. In each of these positions, he played leading roles in strategic planning and business development for institutional and private banking.

In September 2021, Sutat founded boutique management consulting firm Shan De Advisors. He also serves as a non-executive board member of ADDX, a Fintech startup backed by Temasek and SGX, and NTUitive, an Innovation and Enterprise Company founded by Nanyang Technological University. He is also lead independent director of Yangzijiang Financial Holdings listed in Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors and the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF). Most recently, he was awarded the Global Investor Asia Capital Markets Lifetime Achievement Award for 2022.

Sutat dedicates his personal time to a variety of social causes. He supports multiple National Council of Social Service (NCSS) Committees and served as the Vice Chair of Community Chest, a Member of the NCSS Member Services Committee, the NCSS Leadership Selection Panel and the 2021 4ST Review committee. Sutat chairs Caregivers Alliance Limited, which received the MCCY 2019 top Corporate Governance and Transparency award for mid-size charities. He is also Immediate Past Chairman of the Kaki Bukit Citizens’ Consultative Committee.

Sutat holds both a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) degree in Philosophy Politics & Economics (PPE) and a Master of Arts degree from Oxford University.
