Financial Advisory Team at Teneo

Teneo’s Financial Advisory business has more than 450 professionals globally, with on the ground teams in the US, UK, Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, The Caribbean, and Bermuda. Our professionals form seamless global teams to deliver the right expertise in the right places which enables us to create and deliver strategies and solutions that will protect and enhance value for our clients and help them to realize their defined success.  Our services include turnaround and restructuring, business transformation, litigation support, capital raising, M&A and transaction services.  

The litigation support and investigation professionals have expertise in financial forensic investigations, valuation, solvency, fraudulent transfer, reconstruction of financial statements, damages, data modeling and analytics, structured products and derivatives and up tier exchanges. A number of our professionals have been retained as either or both a testifying expert and consulting expert in dispute resolution, forensic and accounting matters.

As a Forensic Accountant at Teneo you will be called upon to lead litigation support, fiduciary and restructuring assignments in the Financial Advisory Group.

The professional should have experience working with financial statements of companies across different industries, possess strong detail-oriented skills and interested in embracing complex financial challenges.  The successful candidate will be expected to have a positive, team-focused attitude and an ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with colleagues and clients.

The responsibilities listed below are intended to be a broad but not exhaustive list.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in commercial disputes, forensic accounting matters, securities and regulatory enforcement matters, valuation, bankruptcy litigation, and solvency matters.
  • Assist in running day-to-day activities on engagements and supporting senior members of the team, including managing discrete work streams and managing Analysts and Associates.
  • Interact with client personnel, other team members, as well as professionals from other firms.
  • Responsible for anticipating, identifying and resolving issues, and keeping senior members of the team up-to-speed as to status and progress.
  • Responsible for maintaining supporting work papers to document underlying support, assumptions applied, and resulting findings.
  • Undertake analysis utilized in the preparation of formal reports, including performing technical, industry and company research, development and execution of work plans, execution of financial analyses, preparing reports summarizing findings, and preparing senior members of the team serving in Expert Witness roles.
  • Reconstruct financial statement, including: (i) working with more than one accounting system, (ii) identifying and recommending adjusts to made, and (ii) preparing reports and related presentations.
  • Advise and consult on damage calculations including: (i) developing and preparing calculations, (ii) determining what information should be used to calculate damages, and (iii) working with counsel to prepare calculations.
  • Fully review and obtain an in-depth understanding of the issues, financial information, documents, and agreements in order to advise on the issues, provide observations, set direction and focus of the work to be performed etc.
  • Review and assess the issues in the matter and deliver strategic alternatives and/or recommendations to the senior engagement lead.
  • Act as the consulting expert to the client when the testifying expert is “walled off”.
  • Take the lead and responsibility on coordination and preparation of presentations, credentials decks, and pitch materials for Senior leads and clients.

 

Requirements

  • Have an undergraduate or masters in accounting, finance, or economics.
  • CPA credential and certified fraud examiner (CFE) credentials a plus.
  • Have 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Big 4 accounting or a large to midsize consulting firm a plus.
  • Experience working on audits, litigation support and expert witness services, forensic investigations, fraud matters, due diligence/collateral reviews, transaction services, valuations and/or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge and foundation in the principles of accounting, including: (i) ability to research accounting guidance and pronouncements, (ii) ability to understand financial statements (balance sheet, income statement and cash flow) and how each statement connects and relate to disclosures, (iii) ability to digest disclosures and what are the important take aways about the performance and capital position of the company, and (iv) analyzing historical financial statements and records and corporate and transactional agreements.

Base Salary Range

$140,000 – 180,000 (compensation for this role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience that may fall outside of the range listed).

Includes annualized bonus, 401k match, healthcare coverage and a broad range of additional benefits and perks.

 

Flexible Work Policy Teneo believes in in-person collaboration when possible and if you are assigned to the New York, Washington D.C, San Francisco and Boston offices, the company expectation is for employees to work from the office location a minimum of three times a week.
