Scott McFarlane

Managing Director

Scott McFarlane is a Managing Director with Teneo in the firm’s Sydney office. He has more than 25 years’ experience advising business and political leaders on strategic communications and policy across the asset management, investment banking, financial technology, agriculture, resources, logistics and legal sectors.

Scott’s key strengths include his ability to absorb complex information and translate this into effective communication strategies, allowing corporate leaders to tell their story to stakeholders. He has been a key adviser on major transactions, including an $US11.6 billion management buyout, worked on CEO transitions and advised on major corporate crises.

Originally a journalist for Australia’s newswire service, Scott went on to advise senior Australian members of parliament in various roles, including chief-of-staff, and served as the State Director of a major political party. He was a Board Member of the Australia Asia Young Leaders’ Program.

Scott lived in London for several years, working with Citigroup and the Kuwait Investment Office in various capacities, and has more recently spent seven years working with major corporate and financial clients in Hong Kong.
