Matthew Hughes

Associate Director

Mathew Hughes is an Associate Director in Teneo’s Financial Advisory business. Mathew specialises in supporting management teams across a broad range of issues, including liquidity management and turnaround planning.

Mathew joined Teneo as part of its purchase of Deloitte’s UK Restructuring business. His experience to date has seen him deliver a broad range of projects, with a focus on advising corporate clients on business planning and liquidity, together with providing deep dive analysis to inform short and long-term turnaround solutions.

His work has seen him advise corporates in addition to other company stakeholders such as lenders and pension trustees, across a variety of sectors.

Mathew is a qualified Chartered Accountant and part of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland (ICAS).

 

Selected Project Experience

  • Advising the senior management team of a >£1bn turnover organisation. This included; supporting the development of a 5 year Business Plan and funding request, assessing the short term liquidity and commenting on potential recommendations to improve headroom and acting as PMO / technical support with a divisional divestment.
  • Working with the management team of a Pension Scheme Master Trust, to develop a Business Plan and Continuity Strategy. Working alongside management to understand its systems and processes, in addition to preparing financial forecasts and drafting of disclosures for specific regulatory requirements.
  • Secondment to a manufacturing business to complete Business-Plan stress testing and operational reviews of a series of companies in the Aerospace sector. Working with C-Suite and the management team of different business units to identify weaknesses and upsides in financial and operational performance.
  • A number of pension covenant reviews of UK based entities including multi-national corporations, not-for-profits and public sector clients.
