Matt Francis is a Senior Managing Director with Teneo’s Financial Advisory business and leads the firm’s financial services risk and regulatory practice.
Matt is a chartered accountant with over 19 years of financial services experience. Prior to joining Teneo he led KPMG UK’s insurance prudential risk, regulatory and reorganisations team, where he provided advice to CEOs, CROs and CFOs of insurers and brokers on strategy, regulatory change and transformation.
Matt provides strategic, commercial regulatory advice to financial services clients, helping them to shape, grow or optimise their business while navigating an ever-evolving risk and economic environment.
Matt has a detailed knowledge of UK and European solvency regimes, having supported numerous groups on risk and capital, governance, risk management, reporting and group supervision. Matt has also previously advised on aspects of the Bermuda, Hong Kong and IFC solvency regimes.
Matt regularly helps Boards and senior executives respond to regulatory change and supervisory interventions. He performs independent reviews and skilled person engagements (including in relation to board governance and the effectiveness of risk and compliance functions) and has helped firms develop remediation plans.
He helps firms respond to emerging risks and issues, including ESG and climate risk, AI and cyber, operational resilience, Consumer Duty, recovery, resolution and solvent exit planning disclosures.
Matt originally trained as a barrister, has strong relationships with the UK regulators and industry trade associations and has been interviewed by, and written articles for, industry press.
