Mahala Hazell is a Managing Director with Teneo’s Financial Advisory business, based in Brisbane.
She has more than 15 years of experience in corporate advisory and restructuring, delivering independent business reviews, restructuring and safe harbour advice, complex investigations and trading businesses in formal administrations.
Mahala has advised across a broad range of industries including mining and resources, real estate, construction, agriculture, financial services, hospitality and the not-for-profit sector. Her recent work includes serving as Interim CFO of The Star Brisbane during The Star Entertainment Group’s operational and financial restructure and Administrator of PGP Group. She has overseen the receivership of an operating underground coal mine for the secured creditor, and the liquidator’s investigations in the Heinrich Constructions Group of companies.
Prior to joining Teneo following its acquisition of PwC’s Australian Business Restructuring Services unit, Mahala was a Director at PwC, where she managed restructuring and insolvency engagements for corporates, lenders and government stakeholders.
Mahala holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Commerce (Professional Accounting) from the University of Queensland. She is a Registered Liquidator and a Member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association (ARITA).
