Jeff Garfield

Senior Managing Director

Jeff Garfield is a Senior Managing Director with Teneo’s Forensic practice.

Jeff is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience, specializing in complex global investigations and compliance program transformation / corporate governance initiatives. Prior to joining Teneo, he was a Compliance Executive at Stryker Corporation, a Partner (Principal) at KPMG and a Vice President of Forensic Services at Charles River Associates (CRA).

Throughout his career, Jeff has brought a lens of originality and insight, offering a fresh vantage point that transcends conventional boundaries. He has led matters involving financial and fraud investigations, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), investigating bribery and corruption and the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and other regulatory inquiries and investigations. Jeff has also led the provision of consulting services in the areas of forensic accounting, data analytics and compliance program transformation. Jeff is trusted by C-suite executives, board of directors, external counsels and Fortune 500 clients alike.

 

Select Project Experience:

Led an internal investigation for a multinational food company into whistleblower allegations of bribery in Southeast Asia, including improper payments to public officials in Indonesia. Conducted forensic accounting analysis, document review, and interviews; reported findings to the Board, resulting in senior executive terminations and remediation of control and governance weaknesses.

Investigated an $8M embezzlement scheme for a global medical device company involving fictitious vendors and fraudulent invoices tied to a Costa Rica facility build. Performed public records research, digital forensics across 15 employees, and fund tracing; supported civil action and law enforcement engagement, leading to federal indictments.

Served as independent Compliance Advisor and CCO to a global technology services provider in connection with a potential DOJ voluntary disclosure related to SBA contracts. Conducted a global compliance assessment and developed and implemented a risk-based enhancement roadmap covering third-party risk, government contracting, investigations, governance, and workforce compliance.
