James Mottershead is a Senior Vice President with Teneo’s Strategy and Communications business, based in Calgary.

James began his career in communications in 2003 and has held positions in the energy, retail, nonprofit, education and public sectors. He has collaboratively and creatively supported business leaders to meet their strategy and communications goals.

Before joining Teneo, James led Corporate Communications at a publicly traded electricity generation company and one of the largest renewable power producers in North America. He also led his own consulting practice helping Canadian small business clients in the beauty and arts communities tell their stories to better market their products and services. He has also held various communications roles at the Alberta Energy Regulator and Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance where he was responsible for media relations, crises and issues management, stakeholder engagement, and executive thought leadership.

A communications and public relations specialist, James has extensive experience in corporate strategy, external communications, investor relations, stakeholder engagement, issues management and crisis communications. James is fluent in French. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Calgary and a Public Relations Graduate Certificate from Mount Royal University.
