Teneo Launches Business in the Netherlands

Teneo, the global CEO advisory firm, today announced the formal launch of its business in The Netherlands with the opening of an office in Amsterdam.

In addition, the firm is announcing the appointment of Herman Betten, who will serve as CEO of Teneo in The Netherlands, reporting to Phillippe Blanchard, President of Teneo’s Continental Europe operations.

For Teneo, the Netherlands is a country of significant importance for many clients given its open and connected economy featuring a large stock exchange, many multinational corporations, a vibrant start-up sector and a strong private equity market. In addition, many Netherlands-based companies have taken global leadership positions in sustainability and ESG.

By opening an office in Amsterdam, Teneo is able to provide a full range of global capabilities to local clients, while bringing a deep understanding of the market to Teneo’s existing international clients. The focus of Teneo’s Netherlands service offering will be on CEO advisory, financial communications, ESG, public and government affairs as well as financial advisory, political risk advisory and people advisory.

Teneo has expanded quickly across continental Europe in the last 18 months and has built a team of around 100 people in its offices in Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt and Berlin. For the Amsterdam office, Teneo is committed to building a strong team to serve its fast-growing client base under the leadership of Herman Betten.

Herman joins Teneo from Royal DSM where he was a Vice President, Strategic Partnerships & Systems Thinking and advisor to the co-CEOs. He has 15 years of experience at DSM providing strategic advice on ESG/sustainability, company and brand positioning, capital market-related transactions, integrated reporting, innovation projects and reputation management. He has also led DSM’s strategic partnership with the World Economic Forum for the last decade and has been instrumental in the creation and growth of the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders, the world’s largest CEO-led climate action group currently consisting of 125 members. He also served as an advisor to the World Economic Forum’s leadership on its climate initiatives.

He previously was owner and editor of a Netherlands-based financial newswire and worked for the Dutch national radio and TV before that. He will formally begin with Teneo on April 1, 2023.

Additional hires will be announced in the coming period.
