
Pradipta Bagchi
Pradipta Bagchi is a Managing Director based in Mumbai, India. A former newspaper editor and communications leader with over 25 years of experience in business, media and communications, Pradipta has worked with top tier Indian business and media brands such as Tata Sons, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), The Times of India and Business Standard.
Pradipta now writes a regular column for Business Standard on business, reputation and markets. He is also a visiting professor at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management and advises on reputation management, content strategy and immersive storytelling.
As the Group Chief Communications Officer at TCS and Tata Sons, (2005-2019), Pradipta reported to the Tata Chairman and helped drive strategy for positioning of Tata CEOs and Tata brands in India and globally. He worked on a wide mandate that included Corporate Reputation programs, Crisis and Issues Management, Internal Communication platforms, PR & Media relations, Social Media as well as creating digitally immersive or ‘experiential’ content.
Using his experience as a journalist for 13 years, Pradipta helped build a seamless communication experience across the Tata group to engage with multiple stakeholders. He was been responsible for designing key thought leadership initiatives as well as designing TCS’ engagement on global platforms. His key achievements at Tata include re-establishing Tata into Global 100 brands list in 2019 by reimaging positioning and stakeholder engagement across key markets. He also helped drive multi-year program that helped cement TCS’ global leadership position as the world’s 3rd largest IT brand.
His work led him to be one of only two Indians to be listed in The Holmes Report’s The Influence 100 that recognizes the most important and influential in-house communicators from around the world.
Prior to his corporate career was an editor and reporter with prominent Indian media houses like The Times of India, The Economic Times and Business Standard prior to joining TCS. He is a graduate in economics of the University of Sussex, UK.
