Poul Skytte Christoffersen
Poul has long experience in representing a major shipping nation (Denmark) to the EU during his time as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Denmark to the European Union in Brussels (1995 to 2003 and 2009 to 2010), where he took charge of the final phase of the enlargement negotiations in 2002 and bilateral Ambassador to Belgium (2014).
He is also a former Ambassador to the Royal Danish Embassy in Rome and Permanent Representatives to FAO, WFP and IFAD (2003 to 2005).
He worked 18 years in the European Institutions serving as Head of Cabinet to Commissioner Fischer Boel and after 2010 he was Special Advisor to High Representative on Foreign and Security policy.
Throughout his career, Poul has acquired extensive knowledge on trade policy, which was a priority topic for Denmark and during his time at the European Commission, he was directly involved in trade negotiations, Energy and Climate policy and more recently, Brexit, with frequent contact with senior officials involved in the process. He has an extensive contact network with top officials in the Institutions. He advises clients on trade and the ongoing Brexit negotiations.
