Jennifer is a Managing Director in the London office of Teneo, advising boards on governance and sustainability issues including succession planning, remuneration and social and environmental risk oversight.
She has over fifteen years’ experience of working at board level with some of the largest companies globally, with a particular focus on extractives and financial services. Jennifer is an expert in building effective shareholder engagement strategies, helping boards better understand the rapidly evolving expectations of their investors.
Prior to Teneo, Jennifer spent 13 years at Hermes Fund Managers, where she built and led the shareholder engagement team, having started her career as a financial journalist. She was responsible for Hermes’ EOS governance and sustainability work with companies around the world, with a clear focus on preserving and creating shareholder value. Jennifer then joined the UK Financial Reporting Council – the body that is responsible for the UK Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes – as head of investor engagement.
Subsequently she established her own consultancy providing strategic advice and expertise to investors on their approach to responsible investment and stewardship in light of the challenges posed by today’s developing social and regulatory climate.
Jennifer is a charity trustee, a volunteer coach for Mindgym and a mentor at the London-based School for Social Entrepreneurs. She has previously served on a number of external bodies including the Lloyds Banking Group stakeholder panel, the advisory board to the Chartered Banker Professional Standards Board and the Shareholder Affairs Committee of the National Association of Pension Funds
Jennifer has a 2:1 MA (Oxon) in Modern Languages and Philosophy.
