Job Description:

As a dedicated member of Teneo’s Center of Excellence for Executive Communications Coaching, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of engagements for a wide range of the clients within our Strategy & Communications Advisory and across the broader firm. The coaching team prepares executives for media interviews, investor conversations, speakerships, internal and external presentations, congressional testimony, and more. Teneo coaches have expertise in spoken, video, and audio communication and a strong understanding of how journalists think. We seek a highly motivated individual with an entrepreneurial spirit and a demonstrable interest in strategic communications and media relations. Newsroom editorial experience is desired and past experience in government affairs and/or investor relations is a plus.



  • Extensive and proven experience providing executive coaching and consulting to C-suite executives and senior corporate leaders with a focus on external and internal critical conversations. The role assists in the execution of coaching and leads or contributes to initiatives to deliver on the strategy of the practice.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor by providing counsel to senior executives regarding critical conversations with key stakeholders ranging from the media to investors, board members, and employees.
  • Identifies and follows media landscape trends; leads Teneo to effectively respond to a changing media environment
  • Develops and presents original recommendations based on media experience and strategic and creative thinking.
  • Reviews and enhances corporate communications materials, including Q&A documents, scripts, and executive talking points.
  • In collaboration with other colleagues, exercises sound judgment to resolve complex issues impacting clients in a timely and transparent manner.
  • Fosters an environment in which commitment to quality and client satisfaction is a top priority.
  • Works effectively with Teneo senior management to help identify client needs and works with other Teneo operating divisions to address them in an integrated team effort.
  • Leverages a network of external and internal contacts to serve clients and regularly bring opportunities to the table that can benefit multiple clients across the firm.
  • Helps train and develop junior talent at Teneo.



  • In-house corporate communications, agency and/or journalism experience; direct prior experience in journalism preferred.
  • Strong facilitation skills with an ability to pivot in the moment across in-person, hybrid, and remote settings.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build strong relationships across the firm and with clients.
  • Exceptional and demonstrated understanding of how to create and amplify corporate narratives and messages.
  • Strong ability to advise on how best to convey strategic and financial messages across formats, from written materials to media interviews, employee town halls, and keynote speeches.
  • Ability to take complexity and translate effectively; a creative and strategic thinker in reputation management, sees around corners, approaches communication from new angles.
  • Superior client relationship building and management skills.
  • Executive Presence: gravitas, confidence, ability to present to a CEO (C-Suite leadership team).
  • Effective Relationship Building: demonstrated ability to counsel senior executives and liaise with media stakeholders.
  • Leadership Skills: strong management and organizational skills with the ability to develop and execute multiplatform strategies for clients while working with the client and Teneo account teams.
  • Strong business acumen in terms of recognizing and securing expanded mandates and bringing new clients into the firm.
  • Direct skills in media production preferred, including video and audio editing.

Base Salary Range: $200,000 - $230,000 (compensation for this role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience that may fall outside of the range listed)

Bonus Eligible: Yes

Total Compensation Package: Includes annualized bonus, 401k match, healthcare coverage and a broad range of additional benefits and perks
